A small city can also innovate

GOVERNANCE

by THE OLBIOS TEAM

The city of Manor on the outskirts of Austin, Texas – with a population of only 6,500 – has made a name for itself by embracing Gov 2.0’s innovative use of online services. Manor Labs is the brainchild of CEO, Dustin Haisler, and has gained international recognition and won numerous awards for its ideas generation platform, pothole reporting system and use of QR codes. Manor, in partnership with GovFresh, ran a Gov 2.0 makeover in the City of De Leon and documented the steps to enable other local towns to emulate its efforts in municipal government innovation. Manor Labs is an open innovation platform designed to allow citizens to help solve problems that plague their local government agency. It conducts research and development on new, emerging technologies to better serve communities. They work with numerous companies across the world to bring their residents cutting-edge technology and to help shape technology for other government agencies as well. Finally, this platform is not restricted to just citizens of the City of Manor; it is open to the world. Anyone can participate and help drive innovation in their community.
