Schools, the future

EDUCATION

by THE OLBIOS TEAM

Here are some of the questions asked by the founders of this initiative: how can we create micro-schools that tap into adults and role models in supportive environments outside of school? How can we help low-income students access high-quality English language-learning resources that meet their needs? How can we take museum content digital for those who can’t physically visit these cultural centers? What if we put a talented software developer in 1000 schools across the country? What if we started low-cost, high-quality private schools in the rural US? What if pods of parents quit private schools, but not before hiring the best teacher to create a modern, one-room schoolhouse? And finally: what if “No Excuses” school providers created dedicated skunkworks labs to accelerate their Research and Development efforts? Working with a group of participants – entrepreneurs, educators, technologists, designers and other creatives – the 4.0 schools challenge them to find and fix urgent problems in education. 4.0 Schools is a community of educators, entrepreneurs, techies, designers, and others that have both the capability and necessity to redesign education in a way that prepares kids as problem-solvers, and sets up schools to be flexible, evolving structures that can respond to the rapidly change world. Getting there will require innovative people taking risks and trying new ways of supporting teachers, delivering content, and designing new schools. At 4.0, they develop and support people to be great problem finders and then help them test the solutions they envision with real users. Eventually, they support validated solutions to become new businesses and non-profits. 4.0 Schools_website Website: http://4pt0.org/ How to apply Promising innovators
