The Latin America travel industry is working together to support social projects throughout the region. Their projects are aiming to provide clean water, dental or medical support and practical training to provide people with new skills in Mexico, Central and South America. The LATA Foundation was set up by the Latin America Travel Association, bringing together tourist boards, airlines, tour operators, hotels, ground agents, travel publishers, PR companies and the press to put something back into the countries where they all work. Although they were only founded in 2008, they are now working in 12 countries and helping thousands of people. Thanks to the support of the travel industry they are able to put together great holidays in Latin America which they auction off to raise funds for their mission. The foundation uses its contacts in Latin America to keep an eye on projects and to make sure that funds go whether they are needed, that projects are well run and on track.
