Muhyadiin is a Somali youth peace ambassador committed to promoting, advocating and strengthening Somali individuals and organizations dedicated to building peace centered on traditional reconciliation systems. The voices of these actors are calling for peace and yet these voices are not heard on a global level. Muhyadiin has experience working with NGO’s, multilateral organizations and government institutions focusing on private diplomacy as a vital instrument for preventing conflict, negotiating an end to conflict and managing non-violent change. So far, he has been working in the field of armed violence prevention for 10 years at a community and country level. Muhyadiin believes that conflicts cannot be resolved through violence and is concerned about the role of small arms as a human security threat. He is involved in initiatives for non-violent change in Somaliland and Somalia’s most violent regions. Muhyadiin has trained and engaged in capacity-building for many non-state institutions to promote their vital role in decision making, mediation and dialogue. He is currently pursuing a career in areas that includes designing a dialogue process with the aim of finding a common ground for opposing parties and the establishment of constructive relationships, including high-level dialogue between political parties, entities and clans.
