En muchos pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo, los sistemas de salud p\u00fablica no llegan, o lo hacen de manera muy deficiente a la mayor parte de la poblaci\u00f3n de las zonas rurales. Esto se debe entre otras cosas a las largas distancias y las dificultades de comunicaci\u00f3n. Andr\u00e9s Fernandez Martinez est\u00e1 adaptando tecnolog\u00edas de telecomunicaci\u00f3n para mejorar la eficiencia de los sistemas de salud p\u00fablica en las zonas rurales m\u00e1s remotas de pa\u00edses en desarrollo. Para ello ha empleado redes inal\u00e1mbricas de larga distancia que permiten una comunicaci\u00f3n continua y directa entre personal auxiliar y m\u00e9dicos profesionales, mejorando la calidad de la atenci\u00f3n a los pacientes y reduciendo los costes al mismo tiempo.
