BEN O’ NEIL

OLBIOS CORRESPONDENT LIBERIA

Ben O’Neil has worked in the public health and international development fields. He brings extensive on-the-ground experience in countries recovering from disease outbreak, famine and conflict, a commitment to community directed development and partner collaboration, a drive for meaningful impact, and a track-record leading dynamic multi-disciplinary teams. Ben currently serves as Samaritan’s Purse Liberia’s Health Sector Grants Advisor. This includes quality assurance for monitoring and evaluation reporting to external donors, building program managers’ professional capacity, and representing national health programming among international NGOs, donors, and Government of Liberia technical working groups. It has entailed budget managing a UNICEF funded educational and vocational training project for young women in Monrovia.
Ben is also a subject matter expert assisting in seeking and writing grant proposals. Prior to this position, Ben managed large DFID funded Maternal and Child Health projects in Uganda and Liberia. He was a speaker at the University of Sussex’ Corbis Global Health Conference.  He also supported Shasta County’s Health and Human Services Agency as an epidemiologist. In this role he was the lead writer of the Community Health Status Assessment which serves as a foundational document for the county’s accreditation and strategic vision. Ben has a Master of Public Health degree from Nova Southeastern University and studied Bible at Johnson University.
