Lemessa Negeri is a Social and Economic Development Advisor on EU support to Sustainable Land Management programme at GIZ, The Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Germany’s leading provider of international cooperation services. He worked also as a Project Team Leader on Equine Welfare & Livelihood Project at Brooke Ethiopia, a UK based international NGO. Similarly, he has also worked as a country level Program director while acting as Executive director of Ethiopian Media Women Association/EMWA/-in Ethiopia, and Project consultant with Gurmu Development Association. He obtained a BSc (Land Resources Management and Environmental protection from Mekele University, Mekele, Ethiopia), BA(Sociology and Social Anthropology from Rift Valley University, Nekemte, Ethiopia), and MBA(Master’s of Business Administration Specialized in Non-Corporate Management from the International Institute of Church Management (IICM), Florida, USA, with Extension center in Ethiopia at Foundation for Academic Excellence Ministry (FAEM), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). He has been working in different local and international NGOs and has taken part in training programmes in Facilitation and Community Animation, Project Cycle Management, Participatory Rural Appraisal, Role of Saving and Credit for Sustainable Income, Small Business Development, Gender & Communication, Monitoring and Evaluation, Practical skills for Ethiopian Social Accountability program two (ESAP2) Grants and Finance requirements, implementation of social accountability, Monitoring and Evaluation, among others. Lemessa has extensive experience with project management from the grassroots level to senior managerial position in coordinating development projects, including the World Bank assisted food security project, the DVV International IWEP projects, the EU funded projects on livelihoods, the Safety Net Program (e.g. the PSNP), Early warning and Disaster prevention projects, and women SHG/CLA of DVV International IWEP, and Water projects of DED (German Development Service). He has also worked in different organization including Expert, Project Coordinator, Area Program Manager , program officer ,Senior Community Development Officer , Program director, and Project Team Leader.
