NICKY WILKINSON

Nicky Wilkinson is a freelance consultant specialising in social innovation and sustainable development. She has just completed a long-term project with the British Council looking at the Sustainable Development Goals and the role of business in contributing to these. Other clients have included a range of corporates and a number of venture philanthropy funds that are expanding into Asia. She is a founding trustee of the GravityLight Foundation and a Director of GravityLight Kenya. GravityLight is an innovative device that creates light from gravity and is designed for use in off-grid households that are dependent upon damaging and dangerous kerosene lighting. GravityLight has won multiple awards including the Humanitarian Innovation Fund and Aid Innovation Challenge. Prior to her current roles Nicky was Regional Manager for the British Council, covering 14 markets in Asia. Before that she worked for Nesta (the UK’s social innovation foundation,) managing a £10m social innovation fund. Prior to this, she was External Relations Director for the UK youth leadership charity Changemakers and before that she held a number of roles living and working across multiple countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. She has a First Class Honours from Kings College London in international development and is a Fellow of the RSA and RGS in the UK.
