With a Public Policy background Stefania Romano has worked for more than ten years for the Italian Ministry of the Environment. Seconded by her government to an international organization, the Regional Environmental Center, Stefania has been the Director of the Italian Fund, targeting specific environmental programs and channeling government funds throughout several geographical regions, such as Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, and the MENA region. In this institutional framework she has developed the Sustainable Development Academy – an educational, capacity building program for senior officials and businessmen – and established the CEO Platform for Green Growth in the MENA region, a program mobilizing actions for green solutions across top-notch businessmen in the Arab region. Also, on behalf of the Italian Ministry of Environment, she has coordinated the bilateral environmental cooperation between the Brazilian and the Italian government, setting up the relevant institutional agreements and coordinating the Italian Pavilion at United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 (Rio+20) for the Italian delegation. Recently, as Freelancer, she has been developing and leading a new project that combines art and environment, Hearth.
