Manish Thapa, a graduate in commerce from Bundelkhand University, have been involved in the development sector for more than 15 years. From counseling college students to teaching Hindi as a Second Language to running social tourism programs and implementing girl child education project, his experience has been varied. He enjoys business startups and has been involved in a couple of local ventures. With his current profile of working with the government system places him uniquely to see the role of the civil society and the potential impact of partnerships in terms of scale and sustainability.
He has had the opportunity to hold a number of professional positions (program manager, Language Instructor, Administrative Officer, Business Owner, Board Member) exposing him and helping him develop and hone skills of people management and equity. Presently, He is working with an international not-for-profit organization STIR Education which is striving to address the global learning crisis through creating local networks of teachers in which teachers create and try micro innovations in their schools, reflect back and evaluate their impact on student learning outcomes. He has also been on the board of Living Faith, a non-profit charity which is engaged in helping underprivileged girls from distressed families to help them with their education and life sustenance and bring them into active society. His other passion being the environmental causes led him to be an active and lifetime member of Greenpeace in India.
