ALBERTO M FORTE

OLBIOS CORRESPONDENT SWITZERLAND

Alberto M. Forte was born in Rome, Italy. He lived in several countries and studied Medicine and Surgery at Einstein College of Yeshiva University in NYC and at Sapienza University in Rome, from which he obtained his MA. He then moved to Lausanne, Switzerland, where he won the NCCR Synapsy Prize to begin a PhD in Neuroscience. In Lausanne he became a psychiatrist, cognitive and behavioral psychotherapist and medical researcher. Alberto has travelled extensively. Because of his passion for anthropology and the richness of different cultures, he collaborated with various humanitarian organisations, including TReND in Africa for teaching Neuroscience in African countries, and medical start-ups such as SwissMedBank which helps migrants and expatriates with their medical backgrounds. He loves nature and is actively involved in environmental protection as a member of the Swiss Network of Ecopsychology. He holds a position as teacher in Ethnocultural psychiatry. Alberto is also a writer, illustrator and photographer. His scientific and artistic activities are centered on his main subject of interest, empathy, and how it influences human behaviour, biological and genetic evolution, and the relationship between the environment and living beings. Today, his work focuses on sustainable behaviour and he is developing an innovative center of eco-development and therapy.
