Evangelini Markou was born in Cyprus and is currently based in Athens Greece. A history and archaeology graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, she then continued with postgraduate studies and a PhD (Sorbonne) in the History and the Civilization of the Classical period, with particular emphasis on numismatics. She has taught at various universities, including at the School of Humanities of the University of the Aegean and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Open University of Cyprus. She has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals on her area of expertise and worked as an archaeologist at the Numismatic Museum of Athens. She is currently a researcher at the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquity at the National Hellenic Research Foundation.
