Habit Hajredini was born in Prizren, Republic of Kosovo. For 20 years he has been engaged in policy development in Good Governance and Human Rights in the Government of Kosovo and Civil Society. Considering the valuable historical work reflected in the advancement of human rights laws and strategies, Good Governance, Children’s Rights, Minority Rights and Disabilities in Kosovo, he is proud for his contribution. He is also the National Coordinator for Human Rights and the leader of the National Council for Civil Society Cooperation. Habit’s career began as a coordinator in the Department for Democracy and Civil Society. For 20 years, he has been working as a Director of the Office for Good Governance, Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Non-Discrimination at the Prime Minister’s Office, where he has coordinated the process of drafting and implementing the numerous national human rights strategies, plans and. Some of these national strategies and plans drafted since 2000 include the strategy on Human Rights, the strategy for fighting against Corruption, the National Plan for the Prevention of Trafficking in Human Beings, the Women’s Rights, the strategy for cooperation with Civil Society, The National Anti-Discrimination Plan, the National Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the National Plan for the Rights of the Child and many other sector strategies in the field of good governance and human rights.
Also for the first time, he has published the report on funding non-governmental organizations to increase the transparency of government to public funds, as well as coordinate the process of public consultations where all laws and other institutional documents are published on the Online platform. Every citizen herein is given the opportunity to contribute to government laws and policies. Habit has been Coordinator for Human Rights in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo since 2007 and coordinates the process of reporting international human rights conventions. He serves as a high-level trainer and expert for good governance and human rights by conducting trainings and seminars in the country and at international level, focusing on good governance, public consultation, transparency and accountability. He is the author of many books and publications on national and international human rights and recently was a co-author of the book on human rights entitled “European Review of the Law on Human Rights” and is author of the ” Manual for Ethics and transparency in Kosovo “. He is also the main coordinator for the implementation of the strategy for the integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo for the period 2017-2022.
