MARIA ROSON SANCHEZ

OLBIOS CORRESPONDENT SPAIN

My name is María Rosón Sánchez, I am from Spain and it was while I was studying a double degree in Law and Political Sciences that I had the first contact with the field of social action, and decided that the protection of human rights was the path I wanted to take not only as a future profession but also as a philosophy of life. Following this vocation, during my years at University I started to collaborate with several NGOs in Spain working with migrant and refugee people’s rights, and I continued doing so when I finished my studies. Beyond these experiences, and moved by a desire of knowing other realities and cultures, I collaborated with several NGOs in Latin America, working with community development projects focused on children and women’s rights in the cities of Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Cusco (Peru). More recently I have finished a European master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratisation, having the chance to write my master’s thesis about intercultural dialogue and the inclusion of migrant and refugee people in Greece, where I could also collaborate with NGOs working on the refugee camps close to the city of Thessaloniki. Besides these experiences, I also spent a year studying in France at Sciences Po Bordeaux, and a semester cursing development studies in New Zealand. I am also very interested on music, dancing and in ecology and sustainable living. I am also passionate of travelling as much as I can and learning new languages, speaking fluently Spanish, English, Portuguese and French . Nowadays I am collaborating with a women’s rights NGO working on the eradication of gender based violence and any forms of discrimination towards women.
