income ideas for those left behind
More than 90% of Argentinians live in cities. The non-governmental organization RESPONDE is trying to halt this flight from the countryside. RESPONDE (Social and Economic Recovery of National Rural Villages at Risk of Disappearing) promotes the social and economic recovery of rural communities in Argentina at risk of disappearing due to poor services. Its programs foster the entrepreneurial spirit of villagers. In addition, Marcela Benitez, its founder, created a social venture developer for rural villages called “clinch” that connects philanthropic families, organizations and companies to these communities. The tourism program they have developed in rural villages promotes local economic development, employing villagers as service providers of bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and artisanal products. Under the Wings program, community centers offer space in libraries, museums, cafes, and virtual classrooms for education and training. RESPONDE has launched many educational and infrastructure projects in no less than 800 villages. They are financed by donations from companies, charitable organizations, and state institutions.
