BasicNeeds is a UK based international NGO working to improve the lives of those living with mental illness and epilepsy. As the largest international NGO working in this space, they have developed a model of intervention that is effective, locally owned, can be replicated and is transferable. Predominantly focused on low and middle income countries, they work right across the system: with individuals and communities, local and national governments, and international organisations. Since their foundation in 2000, their programmes have improved the lives of over 630.000 people living with mental illness and/or epilepsy, and they have led the way in developing comprehensive field based research and national and global advocacy.
