Life in Abundance International
is a faith-based, African-found organization that works with local churches to provide community development in the world’s poorest of nations. Their goal is to come alongside local ministries to help identify community needs, and then walk alongside the leadership of the local church to provide for those needs in a long lasting and sustainable way. They work in over 30 communities throughout Africa and the Caribbean. One example of their initiatives is the “Konjo Shoe project” which takes workers, trains them to make shoes and educates them in good business and finance practices so that participants can earn a living.
As we all know, 21.000 children die silently every day from preventable and treatable diseases. More than 1 billion people live below the extreme poverty line with less than $1 a day. Perhaps most troubling of all, the most vulnerable and marginalized have no voice and no ability to respond to the systems and power structures that keep these realities exactly the way they are. It is never too early for all believers to push against the tide of disease, famine, illiteracy, extreme poverty and injustice.
