by THE OLBIOS TEAM

Julie Carney’s Gardens for Health works in Rwanda, providing patients at public health centers with seeds, tree seedlings, and small livestock. The goal: make agriculture part of the prescription for malnutrition, teaching parents how gardens can provide healthy foods to their children, partnering with health centers in Rwanda to integrate agricultural support and comprehensive health education into the clinical treatment of malnutrition, advocating for policies and programs that include agriculture in the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and finally, training partners throughout the region who are interested in adapting their model and methodology for their communities. To date, they have worked with nearly 4.000 families through their Health Center Program, helping to ensure that approximately 15.700 people have the healthy food they need to grow and thrive. In 2015 alone, a total of 2.542 children have been enrolled in their program. Gardens for Health International_homepage Website: http://www.gardensforhealth.org/
