The future of fashion manufacturing

SCIENCES & NEW TECHNOLOGIES

by THE OLBIOS TEAM

Mycotex or NEFFA,  has developed the only 3D manufacturing process that can produce seamless and customised products from compostable mushroom roots and other biomaterials. The method therefore resolves a number of major issues in the fashion, interior and automotive industry. It reduces cost, waste and the labour intensity of cut-and-sew operations, replaces plastics and leathers with compostable materials and improves the comfort and fit of fashion products.
The purpose of Mycotex is to research how to create a textile out of living material and how to make it applicable in a textile product. They envision a world where anyone can feel good in the clothes they wear, because they fit them perfectly and reflect their taste, are made close to where they live, without exploiting anyone, yet they are still affordable and do not harm, but maybe even benefit, the environment.
