Li Ka-shing has set up a Foundation that he refers to as his third son. It’s commitment to education and medical care is long-term. They see education as the basis for the advancement of human civilization and technology, as well as the welfare and prosperity of society. According to them, education is the cornerstone of a creative, caring, and technically inclined society. At the same time, medical care is the other basic need to be adressed. It is one of the main measures of any nation’s progress and advancement and they believe that it should be available to everyone. Their focus on healthcare stems from Mr Li’s personal experiences of poverty and sickness. They continue to devote themselves to helping the sick and the needy – as a result the Foundation has already served more than 17 millions patients.
